Navy Poem

A Sailor - Author Unknown

I love My Sailor so deeply and true

He is my Husband, my Friend and a Daddy too

He chose his fate when signed that line

To become a Submariner and serve his time

As the Submarine is prepped and the workday ends

He comes home to tell me, "It is that time again"

The night before "The Boat" gets underway

We prepare ourselves for that dreaded day

He Packs his sea bag so snug and tight

For it will be time to leave at dawn's early light

With his sea bag across his shoulder

and the tears in his eyes we know it is time for all the goodbyes

My Sailor and his crew are running silent and deep

Protecting our freedom while awake or asleep

For the beautiful flag flies freely in the wind

My sailor will proudly salute it until the very end

Re: Navy Poem

Please pass my thanks to your husband for his Service to our Navy and Country. Thanks also to you for all of your sacrifices and your role as Mommy, absentee Daddy, and keeping the home fires burning. Being a Navy Wife is a tough job. I have been married to one for 30 years. You have a distinct advantage, you are a Carolina girl, as is mine.

I Salute you both

Re: Navy Poem

Thanks for sharing that poem, it is awesome! Granted, I am a baby (16 years of Naval service - active duty/reserves) compared to your husband and some of the individuals that have replied to this post but I am proud to serve this country smiley My prayers are always with all my brothers and sisters who serve because it is indeed the ultimate sacrifice - for the service member and his/her family.

Take Care and God Bless!

Re: Navy Poem

SeniorCutt, your wife deserves much more credit than me. I've only been a Navy wife for 10 years out of my husband's 23.

Hotjackets, my husband is stationed in Groton now. He's on the USS Providence (SSN 719) which is currently serving on a 6 month deployment.
