ABOUT ME
Introduction
I can't even tell you how awesome this weekend was. I will let the pictures speak for themselves. OMG!
Thank you to all my friends that have taken time out of their lives to make me smile and laugh by posting comments and thoughts for me to enjoy. You all have truly made this first year on Infield
Parking and wonderful one. I feel blessed...and hope that next season is for you as well.
This is my Fontana Race Re-Cap from 8/29 - 9/3/07
Ready...? Let's begin... We "planned" on leaving home for the 4.5 hour drive about 6-7pm...we actually left at midnight. What's that saying about the best laid plans of mice and men?
Before departing home, we decorated signs...and our trailer...with NASCAR appropriate slogans with the window paint in the colors of our various drivers...those on the road are sure to know that
we are "Fontana or Bust" bound...and that the driver of choice is indeed "Go Kasey 9". LOL!!! On we go.
We pull up almost exactly at the spot we were in last year to await the infield camping gate opening. We were quickly corrected by Mr. CHP that we "had to clear the street. Find another place to
park and wait for the gate to open." Nice. It was 4:30am and the gates opened at 5am. WTF was I gonna do for 30 mins with a 39 ft 5th wheel behind me? I'll tell you one thing...not going through
any drive thru's. LMAO!
We manuevered and managed to kill 25 mins sitting in the back 40 of the local Burger King. Crisis averted. Gate opens...we enter along with 2500 RV's. Yeah!!! Keep in mind I've been awake since
6am the previous morning...and haven't slept a wink.
Get in line and wait for the main gate to the infield to open. I haul my ass into the trailer to sleep for whatever time I can. Gates open at 7am and we get into our spot with ease. Thank you
Lord!!!
After setting up, it's time to "trow some groceries down my troat" and veg out. Of which I do for the remainder of Thursday. Oh...and have I mentioned yet...it's hot? Hmmm...not like "wow...it's
a wee bit warm out here" hot...more like "where the * * * * is Satan...I know he's here somewhere", it's that * * * *in' hot. A/C and the generator got the BIGGEST workout ever. They both got small
respites until it was so unbearably hot we ran it day and night. What a redneck won't do for NASCAR!! I'll tell ya!!! Did I also mention that in our forthought for planning, we knew it would be
warm...we knew we would be running the A/C long hours...we filled the gas tank on our toy hauler - 30 gallons...and took an extra 25 gallons of fuel to be sure we didn't run out and have to
suffer through SoCal hot to get out NASCAR fix? How's that for NASCAR prepared?! LMAO!!!
Ok well enough of that stuff...let's get to the meat of the journey.
Thursday night...was the be all end all...I got to meet Elliott Sadler. My friend Renee, another NASCAR nutty gal...told me that he would be appearing at the Rancho Cucamonga Bass Pro Shop. So
guess who got her Google Directions and headed to Rancho Cucamonga? You got it...ME!!! (and my crew...sister, nephew and hubby.) We waited in line for 3 hours. We were like 15th or so in
line...and had a blast shopping, meeting other Sadler fans...and ultimately meeting the 19. He was exceptionally nice and quite intoxicating. Smelled wonderful and was just a sweet, sweet guy. I
just wanted to jump over the table and have my way with him!! LOL
We got back to our spot to find our new neighbors for the next 4 days. One side didn't ever have anyone pull in, thank goodness. Across from us is who we began to refer to as Mr. Crabs, you know
from SpongeBob Squarepants. He probably weighed 350-400lbs and had the biggest belly I've ever seen on a human being. These people brought a pool table!!!! And slept on a airmatress in the middle
of one of those carport canopies! The people behind us were in one of those CUBE vans. That was their RV. They slept in it. The rest of their camp...was a tent...and a * * * * load of trash and
debris. SWEET!! The other side was a rented RV with a mother, adult son, adult girlfriend of son and one friend of son. Friend of son, proceeded to get completely and totally * * * *faced to the
point he wandered off...made some new friends...had to be brought back to camp by new friend...and dropped off. A few hours after he is brought back to camp, 2:45am to be more precise,
drunkenshithead as he became known, gets into trouble with the lady across from us. This was the one night we struggled and left the A/C off for the night. So the windows and doors were open.
Screen doors shut. So I wake to this high pitched irritating * * * * * yelling at drunkenshithead for him to "leave her alone, shut up and go to bed or she was gonna wake up his family and call the
cops." This goes on for 30-45 mins. He was obliterated to the point he didn't remember any of it the next day. Apparently, from what he told my sister and husband the next day, the cops did
eventually come...and he was cited for drunkeness. I hope adult son remembers this next February and forgets to invite drunkenshithead.
September's race doesn't include the truck races. So we had Friday free, except for qualifying and practices....and hauler shopping. Friday night was Trackside Live. Of which we were totally and
completely prepared for. We, scratch that, I, painstakingly toiled over posterboard, vinyl lettering, and glitter glue to make LARGE and VISIBLE signs to tout our love and admiration. My signs
said..."Sadler = BIG Sexy" and "Go Kasey 9", complete with red and silver glitter! My nephew's sign said..."Go Jr. 8". Mike, my husband's signs said..."Climb the Fence Smoke" and "Greg U Could
have been here" with a big black arrow pointing next to him. WE WERE ON TV!!!!!!!! LMAO!!!!! We laughed our asses off...and sweated off what was left. It was sooooooo friggin hot!!! California
Trackside crowds are never large, so we were right up front. I have a delightful pic of Elliott as he read my sign. It's my new prized possession. It was awesome!!!! He autographed a shirt and
threw it to me, but some * * * *in tard jumped in front of me and snagged it..*. *.*.*.*.*.*. I hope it shrinks or he washes it and the signature disappears. LOL Jeff Hammond thought it was funny too. He
leaned over and read what it said to Elliott and they giggled. Larry Mac, who is just the nicest man on earth...smiled when he read it. Thank God I Tivo'd it...we came home and watched it.
Screamed every time we were on TV and laughed hysterically at how retarded we are!!
So in between melting and events. We managed to make it to the garage fence, and got some great pics of drivers/cars going in and out. A couple of surprises...Kurt Busch was probably the nicest
of the drivers that walked by. I'm telling you, he has his moments, and I'm having mine when I think about him. He may be an ass most of the time on the track, but he was genuine and courteous to
us as fans. We were the only ones on the back fence and he was NICE. Makes me think differently about him...that's all I'm saying. LOL Some that weren't so nice...Jeff Gordon...imagine that. But
it could have been the fact that the previous time he drove by us...we boo'd...and gave him the thumbs down...and I acted like I was puking when I saw him. LMAO!! One of Brian Vickers crew threw
a lug nut at me as we stood there. But it hit my foot, richoted and hit a car that was driving by. He grabbed a handful of lug nuts and ran over to us and apologized for hitting us with them, as
that was not his intention. My nephew thought the crew guy was a saint after that. We now have collected lug nuts from Kasey Kahne, Jr and Vickers. Ricky Rudd and Bobby Labonte were also "wavers"
and polite. Kasey was a * * * * head and didn't acknowledge us. We got lots of car/drivers pics there.
Busch race was quite entertaining. Got some good pics. Enjoyed it a lot. There were many people there that aren't ususally there either. More so than last year.
Sunday was fanfuckingtastic. We had so much fun. We were able to make it through the pits without melting and actually got to stand right on the spot that now has become...MY SPOT in front of the
stage. Got some awesome pics. It was sooooooo unbelievably hot. I'm not even exagerating, even slightly. I heard that it was 108 on the track before the race. And like 140 in the cars as they
were racing. It was beyond humid. And I think that my face melted off on several occasions. Mike stood behind me with my spray/fan squirt bottle periodically spraying me before I became one with
the asphalt. I wore no makeup thank God, or else I would have looked like someone blackened my eyes. LMAO!! Did you know that eyelids can sweat? Did you know that sweat doesn't necessarily come
in drips off the forehead but can actually come off you in sheets? Yep...it sure can. LOL I was so ready to find some shade after standing in front of the stage for hours in the direct and brutal
sun, that I almost took off my clothes and ran naked through the stands!!
Sunday's guests were kind of ho hum...Stevie Wonder, Melissa Etheridge, Dylan and Cole Sprouse and some other "tech" guys who I didn't know. Stevie did an impromptu little harmonica solo/sing
song. It was groovy.
So driver intro's are done...we make our way under the grandstands to find something cool to drink and make our way to our seats. Our seats are way at the top of Section 45, near turn 1, and you
can see everything around the track. I love them. They are just hard to get to for a fat ass like me. But I made it...and when I say I didn't pass out...that's quite an accomplishment. There were
people in way better shape than me...that were passing out. Before we made our way to our seats...we actually saw 3 people on the EMT stretchers and 2 people pass out from the heat. One might
have actually been a stupid drunken fool, but we weren't sure until later on when he made a complete ass out of himself cheering on Jimmie Johnson. Then he confirmed it for us by throwing a hissy
fit when Jimmie lost some track position...and he paced mercilessly for the last 45 laps of the race. Idiot. Since we're talking about Jimmie, he did end up winning the race...sadly...and much to
my chagrin. Ehhh...what are you gonna do? Kasey had a decent finish...thank God. His race was a roller coaster of positions. There were times I thought he was gonna be at the end of the field,
but he did manage to pull it out...and had a decent finish. Which moved him up in the points to 21st, I think.
We made our way back to our trailer and enjoyed some nice A/C and dinner...late as it was. We pulled out of our spot at about 9am or so, and got home about 2pm or so. We saw lots of NASCAR fans
making their way home on the freeways between here and there...and many were pretty funny honking and waving in commraderie. I even acklowedged one such person...who waved her Jeff Gordon hat at
me with a smile on her silly toothless granny face. That's ok...I forgave her...not all of us can be smart in our driver choices...LOL.
Well that's it friends. We had a great time...and what do you know...February is right around the corner...and we'll be there again. And I'll have another story to tell...thanks for listening.
=)
I think I died right after this!
I'm a 36 year old married gal who loves NASCAR and Kasey Kahne. I also adore June Bug and Elliott Sadler. I also enjoy Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman.
I've been a stock car fan since I was a kid. My dad watched, and that meant everyone else in the house did too! So I grew up loving the speed of it and all the excitement that seemed to eminate
from the sport. I didn't get to attend my first race until June 2005. My husband and I have a friend who owned a Dodge Dealership where we live. He wasn't using his Infineon owners pack of
tickets...so he gave us the whole shebang! We watched the whole race from the Dodge Dealers tent and ate and drank all day on Dodge!! LOL! We had a BLAST! I couldn't believe the difference in
what I had been watching on TV since I was a kid...and what I was hearing being right next to the cars as an adult. I didn't fully understand the power and sound that comes from a stock car until
I saw and heard it in person. It is impressive. It is exciting. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!!
Been married 16 years to my husband, Mike. We have no kids and way too many damn animals! We liggity love to camp...anywhere. He's in construction and I work as a secretary/bookkeeper.
We are fortunate enough to have season tickets to California Speedway. This February we were also lucky enough to score season RV infield camping there! That is a dream come true!! If you are at
the track...come by...you'll know it's me by the big ArSe, big mouth and big heart!
I am also an avid amateur photographer. I just love to take pictures. I have tons of pics that I've taken at the California races on my Myspace page. Check under "my websites" for the link to my
Myspace page to see more photos.
