Posted in Jimmie Johnson Once Again Takes One for the Team with... on Mar 5, 2010Someone will beat them. It's up to that team to step it up and get it done. I can't wait for it to happen either, don't hate Jimmie, but I'm tired of watching him win everything.

Posted in Dale Earnhardt Jr. "Looked Like His Daddy There" With... on Feb 18, 2010
It was certainly an exciting finish. That car came outta there like a snot ball out a runny nose. Got me up off my couch. I honestly couldn't remember who was in the #1 car, but I was looking forward to a neck and neck finish.
At first I thought "why isn't he trying to get around the 1 ?", but on review it just looked like the car wasn't there for that, and he made the wise decision to maintain second place.
I don't see any reason to get over excited about it though. It was one race, and a restrictor plate race. That's a whole different ball game from the rest of the schedule. That team still has improvement to show. Starting this week at California. That finish gave them a good motivator. A good start to a LOOOOOOONG season. Here's to hoping they can do that a few more times.
Very true, there's plenty more to go. He was pretty good at California last fall before that wreck, and was better overall with Lance's cars. I think it's going to be a good season for these guys. Nice to start fresh

Posted in Dale Earnhardt Jr: Redemption Came When it Most Counted on Feb 18, 2010I've watched the last lap several times now, and I still can't believe it...WOW!! That was awesome!!

Posted in Dale Earnhardt Jr. "Looked Like His Daddy There" With... on Feb 15, 2010That was the most awesome thing I've seen in quite a while...I was happy when I thought he would finish top 10, ecstatic when he made it to the top 5, and then it looked like he was gonna win the thing and got all the way up to second!! Is there a stronger word than ecstatic? That would apply here! Very impressed with that last lap or two from Jr, that was way cool. Who said he lost the desire to win?

Posted in Once The Piped Piper, Has Dale Earnhardt Jr. Lost His... on Feb 5, 2010I haven't seen anything different about Dale Jr's plate track performance. I think he is one of the best out there at plate tracks, if not the best. It seems like he doesn't have adequate help anymore, and yes, others have stepped up as well. Therefore, he hasn't won as much and dominated as he used to.

Posted in 2010 NASCAR picks/predictions on Feb 5, 2010I know, I know, I just said it's too early to make predictions on the other thread, but just for fun I guess....haha
-Dale Jr will make the chase
-Kyle Busch will make the chase
-Matt Kenseth will make the chase
I'd like to think Jimmie's reign will end this year, but I haven't seen any reason to believe that. Someone is going to have to beat him at his own game. Hopefully SOMEBODY at least brings competition this year!
I think these drivers will make the chase:
Johnson
Gordon
Martin
Earnhardt
Stewart
Edwards
Kenseth
Ky. Busch
Hamlin
Burton
Harvick
Ku. Busch
Not necessarily in this order
I also think Logano will come close to the chase and possibly make it
We'll have to wait and see!!

Posted in Dale Jr won't make the chase ! ? on Feb 5, 2010It's way too early to make predictions about anyone, not just Dale Jr. Anyone can be good, and anyone can suck. We'll have to wait and see who has done their homework in the offseason.

Posted in Dale Earnhardt Jr - In It To Win In 2010 on Jan 21, 2010
It's going to take wins nowadays to get anywhere in the championship battle. Top 10's are good, top 5's are great, but wins get the big prize.
I'd disagree with that notion. Just one example, in 2008 Harvick and Gordon both finished ahead of Kyle Busch in the final standings. Busch had 8 wins. Harvick and Gordon had none.
An example from the past season, Kyle Busch missed the chase with 4 wins. Meanwhile, Biffle finished in 7th in the chase with no wins.
Consistency is still the key just as it used to be.
I agree, however, to win it all, it's been stepped up a notch. The 48 is just embarassing these guys anymore. Someone needs to beat them at their own game.

Posted in Dale Earnhardt Jr - In It To Win In 2010 on Jan 20, 2010It's going to take wins nowadays to get anywhere in the championship battle. Top 10's are good, top 5's are great, but wins get the big prize. I'd be happy if he was consistently in the top 10. That's a great start, considering last year's struggles. I don't think that will make Dale Jr happy though. The man wants to win! Three wins isn't an unreasonable goal. If the changes were good ones, then he should run as good as his teammates, and he should be winning. He should be able to easily make the chase. That's all you can really ask for.

Posted in Lengths of Sprint Cup races change for Phoenix... on Jan 16, 2010Honestly, I was at the most recent Phoenix race, and it wasn't much better than what I've seen at Auto Club Speedway. I go to every race at CA because it's local, and hadn't been to Phoenix since 2002. I couldn't wait to get back to Phoenix; the race from 2002 was pretty good. I was really dissapointed in the race, and ended up leaving a few laps before the finish. I'd have to say between that one and the most recent California race, the California race was better. Don't get a chance to say that very often!
I hope that the changes they're making to these cars improve the racing some.

Posted in Chase For The NASCAR Sprint Cup: Easier Or Harder to Win... on Jan 16, 2010I definitely prefer the old format over the Chase. I don't like it. There needs to be more variety in the Chase. The guy who wins the Championship should have to run well on different types of tracks in the Chase. Right now, there are way too many of the same type of track. Only one short track. No Road Courses. The only change they've made is adding California to it. Not a good idea.
I would like to see a road course and another short track race or two in the chase. More variety. I don't like the fact that the champion only has to run well at these 10 tracks; most of which are very similar. I want to see a championship awarded to someone who has to run well everywhere again.
I'm sure Johnson will be just as good as ever this year. One of these times, someone is going to beat him though. Only time will tell when and who that will be. I honestly can't wait to see someone else, just about anybody else, win it. Nothing personal against Johnson or the 48 team, but I'm tired of them winning everything. The chase we have right now plays right into their favor. How many of these tracks has Johnson excelled at? Martinsville, Dover, Phoenix, Charlotte, and now California--those are some of, if not his best tracks. Someone needs to beat these guys at their own game. It's up to them to do their homework and knock the 48 team off the top. That's what it's going to take.

Posted in A Successful 2010 Season for Dale Earnhardt Jr Just May... on Jan 9, 2010I've noticed before that Jr seems to fare better in the even numbered years, as opposed to odd. I think he's made every even # year chase, and missed every odd # year chase. It's weird, and no I can't explain it lol. However, if this holds true this year, I hope it's a great year for him. Boy does that team need it.
-
Posted in 2010 Predictions! What's Gonna Happen? on Jan 9, 2010Dale Jr will get his butt back in Victory Lane!! LOL
I really think he'll make the chase this year too, and hopefully contend for it. I'll be happy if he's running as well as his teammates, considering they're running as well as they did last year.
-Matt Kenseth will make the chase
-Kyle Busch will make the chase
-Jimmie will likely be the strongest again in the chase, but I hope we're able to see some competition this year. I'd be okay with anyone from the Hendrick stable posing that threat. I really thought Mark and Tony were gonna give him hell, but it didn't happen. I hope someone else finally gets it done in 2010
Chase contenders:
Johnson
Gordon
Martin
Earnhardt Jr.
Kenseth
Stewart
Logano
Hamlin
Biffle
Edwards
Both Busch brothers
Top contenders? Well, it's hard to say right now. We'll see who can put up the fight against Johnson.

Posted in Jimmie and Chani expecting baby in July on Jan 9, 2010Congrats to Jimmie and Chandra! I do believe we have a Baby Boom going on in the NASCAR garage! I can't remember for sure, but I think they announced Carl's having a girl and Elliott is having a boy...nothing on Jimmie yet; I think it's too early. I can see them having a boy though.
Anyone I'm missing?? Isn't McMurray having a kid too? Who else is out there?

Posted in When Jimmie Johnson Is No Longer No.1 How Will He Handle It? on Dec 24, 2009That's what I really want to know. I don't see Jimmie or Chad handling anything less than a stellar season very well, and understandably so. They get pretty animated on the radio when running 2nd or so and are not able to catch the leader to win the race. I couldn't imagine what they'd do having problems for a several week stretch, or even a season. It will be interesting to see when someone is beating them every week instead of them beating everyone. It will happen someday. I'm ready for it as soon as 2010...lol...ready to see someone else winning everything!

Posted in Jimmie Johnson on the verge of another championship, but... on Nov 21, 2009I'm honestly not excited about it. I wanted to see someone new on top!!
But it is what it is, and they're just the guys to beat until someone beats them. Not looking likely anytime soon either! They're THAT good.

Posted in Now if the NASCAR champion were determined strictly by... on Nov 21, 2009If only....
The chase is designed to award the driver winning the most races, and that's exactly what it is doing. Old points or new, the same guy would be on top I believe.
Next year, all of these other guys need to really step it up or it will be the same result. Top 5's and 10's are just not enough anymore...not when one guy is winning so many races.

Posted in NASCAR Spoke, And Johnson Listened Extending His Points... on Nov 9, 2009You're quite welcome. Thanks for posting your article. I enjoy debates about our sport as much as any of us do, and sometimes I get a little too passionate about this sport, lol. You're forgiven, as a matter of fact, I have no problem with anything you said.
Guess that the 48 team didn't have a bunch of points to play with anyway, or they wouldn't if they had trouble last week as well as this week. They sure know what they're doing, no way I'm going to deny that.
-
Posted in NASCAR Spoke, And Johnson Listened Extending His Points... on Nov 6, 2009I think the problem I have with it is that I feel the guys who actually raced all day were more deserving of a top 10 than the 48 team. This race is a complete crapshoot though, anybody could finish anywhere really. The big wreck can happen in the front, middle, or back of the pack. That didn't stop everybody else from racing. I just need to get it in my head that this sport isn't always fair, and that the fastest car doesn't always win. Strategy has won and lost many races, as it has in this case. The win being a top 10 finish, and a lot more points for the 48 team.
-
Posted in NASCAR Spoke, And Johnson Listened Extending His Points... on Nov 6, 2009You're right frevr3fan, I just assumed it was Chad's strategy. He is the leader of the team though, and he had a lot to do with it.
I honestly don't dislike the 48 team. I find it boring to watch them run away with it every year, yes, but I don't dislike or blame the team for it. I hardly have a place to tell a 3 time defending champion and soon to be 4 time champion race team how to do their jobs. HOWEVER, I just don't like the strategy they used at Talladega. I don't like it when any team uses this strategy. Yes, it has worked for many including the 48 team this past Sunday. It is a survival tactic, true, I understand this. I know I have no place to judge the 48 team's decisions. I just don't like it, period. I want to see a race. I want to see guys racing. Not just riding in the back and then just blowing through a bunch of cars for a good finish at the end. It worked for them, but it doesn't work for me.
Maybe they aren't supposed to put on a show for me or for anybody else, but come on. They had a sizeable cushion going in and could have tried to mix it up a little. It is still a race after all, isn't it? I just see it as a cheap way out. It's just not impressive to me in the least. It's not my decision though...I guess that's why I'm not on a race team.
Just giving my honest opinion.
-
Posted in NASCAR Spoke, And Johnson Listened Extending His Points... on Nov 5, 2009Oh, please like the 48 team was the first to deploy this strategy at a plate track. This article makes Chad out to be a genius for thinking of this, when in reality I've seen this strategy from many teams before his.
I would have been more impressed had Jimmie actually tried to race all day and got that good finish. I hate that ride in the back all day strategy it's a complete wuss out!! He had a pretty sizable lead that he could have actually tried to put on a show...plenty of guys raced all day and got good finishes.
