ABOUT ME
Introduction
Hey, there! My name's Brock Beard, also known as one of the reasons the Nextel Cup Series comes to Northern California every summer!
I have been a huge fan of the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series since the DieHard 500 at Talladega in July of 1991, the race where Rick Mast's Oldsmobile flipped upside-down in the tri-oval. Ever since that day, NASCAR has tied into just about everything in my life. As a kid, I gave Bob Jenkins calls as I pushed my 1:64 scale diecast around an imaginary road course I had set up near my bedroom! In high school, I turned an American History class project into an opportunity to create a fake photo album which traced Jeff Gordon's racing career! In college, I competed on the UCI Men's Rowing team and made engine noises during our morning runs while wearing a Ricky Rudd hat!
Today, I am the blogger behind "Karaoke For NASCAR Fans," (located at http://nascarpoetry.blogspot.com) where every week I write my own Nextel Cup race reviews by putting them to lyrics of popular songs! Not long after its inception in 2006, I was fortunate enough to get a spot on Race Talk Radio's "Doin' Donuts" post-race show with Dennis Michelson and Lori Munro! Now, you can hear me every Monday night singing my newest lyrics at www.racetalkradio.com!
My favorite Nextel Cup drivers are Ricky Rudd, Jamie McMurray, Jerry Nadeau, Clint Bowyer, Carl Long, James Hylton, and Derrike Cope. Also, as a thirteen-time attendee to the NASCAR events at the Infineon Raceway here in Sonoma, California, I am a huge fan of the "road-course ringers," particularly Boris Said, Ron Fellows and Chris Cook, whom I have had the pleasure of meeting personally.
My hobbies listening to music, watching disaster films, following the Nextel Cup Series, writing short stories, commentary, and lyrical parodies, drawing, browsing YouTube, watching races from the early 1990s
