ABOUT ME

Introduction I'm a race junkie...gear-head chick...My birth mother's family (Paine) has been in Detroit, MI since 1899 either building or designing cars...until last summer when things went POP. (Most of them were able to retire) On the other hand, I've been raised in Texas since 1970 and was bounced around more than I should have been...we've had a family meeting and have healed up as much as we can and are now in the process of putting things back to rights. I want my kids to have the life I should have had...and that's saying something even as good as I've had it. My adopted family started one of the top 100 pest control companies in the nation...and eventhough my Dad sold over to his business partner when he started getting sick...I still get a warm fuzzy when I see the trucks driving down the road. My adopted dad was eventually diagnosed with MS in his mid-50's which the doctors say is because of the termite rig that he carried attached to his truck. As a teenager I started watching Dale Sr. when ESPN was a new channel on cable and my adopted mother would wring her hands and say that she'd put me into all the right schools and introduced me to all the right people..."Where did--she-- go wrong?" (I have to giggle in hindsight) She'd been trying to teach me how to drink champagne...(which is only useful in the Winner's Circle!) and eat Buluga caviar and eat smoked salmon...and how to do that derned debutante bow? She had to be kidding! Ok, the smoked meats could stay...I did the bow for her in private and told her to save her money...and even when I didn't know who I was myself...I was still ME...and through these past 30 years my friends will tell you that you could know me for 2 years and just be getting to the good stuff. They've seen me stand back and look for a need, and then put it right in front of the person who needs it, and leave without a word. NEWS...NEWS: The quickest way to get the notes out is this...I've not been on IP for health reasons, there was a complication to the surgery on June 24th. It wasn't totally unexpected, so the good news is that it's taken care of and is OVER. I'm looking forward to taking the boys to Rockport for a few days before school starts on the last Tuesday of the month...we're carpooling with another group of friends to save gas $$ and hopefully I will be able to give the spray on tan stuff a break for awhile? I've still got to download the photos I took starting at the Charlotte Memorial Day races...I want to learn how to make a photo album which I will label, "A WEEK in the life of the Luvbugs..." It was crazy but it was fun making all the memories with the various bkids...as I sit back and look...I was always with at least ONE of my kids...that's just AWESOME! I have always said that the oldest and the baby are clones, but when they both complained about my Tetris game addiction, I just had to laugh... I wanted to leave a note here as well, that I had posted a forum discussion to IP last March. Does anyone remember that? I had written a letter to NasCar and I almost fell OVER when I got a response back from Mr. Mike Helton himself! (HOW AWESOME IS THAT?!) It seems that he agreed with most of my assessments of the situation in Atlanta...and judging from the things that happened in Indy, he's paying attention too. I wish I could figure out how to scan both the letters into the photos, but that will take some time til I get my stuff at home up to where it should be for the 21st Century. FYI for anyone who wants to mess with my eldest kid... Mike's joined IP as Battlecry101 so visit him and let him know how proud ya'll are that he's joined the National Guard? He's due to Boot on October 10th...Junior's Birthday! (Mine is the 19th so as hard as I cried last year when Junior hit the wall at Phoenix during the 50th lap/315...I will be crying more this year. It was the 20th Anniversary of Wes' death, as well as my official 40th birthday party so I had to get out of town!) I was asked by the C.O. at TMS so I will let ya'll know, it's not so much that I haven't had more than half of the men in my family in the military, but that I was widowed in that marriage and Mike is the sole heir. The Paine family and the Gerlach family have fought in EVERY war except WWI when the Gerlach's refused to fight against the Germans, they went to Canada until the war was over. The Gerlach family was a set of 8 cousins who came over on the boat together in 1906, all having letters of employment signed by Mr. H. Ford going to Detroit? (Wonder who that was?) The first Gerlach in my branch of the family tree was Charles who died in 1915...but when I was told to turn around in a circle at the graveyard, wondering what I was looking at or for, I looked to my Great-Aunt Mae who then told me that every grave I'd just seen was a relative! My family was very upset when they learned that I'd been adopted out of the family...I've grown up (and raised the older kids) thinking I didn't have one.

My hobbies Besides Nascar? Hmmm...I volunteer with several different organizations...Mobile Loaves and Fishes (now becoming a National mission to feed and clothe the homeless population); which networks with Miracle Network and I've got a few friends working in orphanages in various places. (They call me for "advice" on problem solving...) I also like to paint, hang wallpaper and lay flooring with Habitat for Humanity...and this is when I am not playing soccer/football or ATA mom to the younger 2 of my 5 "lovebugs" total. Don't choke...the eldest and youngest are mine by birth and I took in a niece and nephew in the middle. I sure do wish my (4) boys and (1) girl would go get trained to work in Nascar Pits...and Jack Roush has said he'll hire them if they'd just call him! He's after a Cat-in-the-Hat keychain that I had when we met...so pay attention if you see a red/blonde Molly Ringwald-look alike with a Cat-in-the-Hat keychain...it's probably me!
My need for speed and noise is ever-increasing as I'm getting more freedom from the kids and now that my EX is finally helping with the kids...WAHOO! Mama's gonna get her groove back on!

Hey sorry it's taken me so long to reply. I've been super busy lately. I got a new job in KY as an office manager at a museum, and yes I finally finished school. I get my actual diploma this month. I'm so excited! I feel like I've really accomplished something. I'm taking this year off and heading to Ohio U Southern next fall for my bachelor's. I didn't get a call from you that day you let me a comment...so what's all the news? I hope it's good. Jacob started kindergarten a couple of weeks ago...it's just been insane around here. Anyways I'll let cha go...ttyl!

Well I'm back from Bristol.
Wednesday was awesome, Truck practice and race...
That was Pat's first time racing Bristol and at the first caution he yelled...
"Holy, whoa, that's racing!!!"
He was hilarious learning that place and he was running 15th till his throttle stuck with 14 to go and they were done for the night but got a lot of experience.
The hauler parade was really neat and hanging with Lisa, Bruce and the gang was very entertaining to say the least.
Friday, mixed emotions there...
Lisa and I went to all the practice sessions and quals and she and I had an absolute blast.
The stuff on the track STUNK!
Pat told his crew that the changes they were making were taking the rear out of the track and yet nobody listened...
He goes out to qual and is so loose it looked like he was on ice.
He was so good in the truck race, he was going to be great in Cup.
Nationwide race, well things were great with Sadler until Edwards got into him.
He still had a good car but just wouldn't race...just gave up and rode around.
This is what really jerks me about him sometimes.
Even Lisa noticed what he did and couldn't believe it.
Anyway, I was so ticked that I left Saturday morning and skipped the Cup race and came home.
Glad I did. I missed hanging with Lisa though.
She and her family are great.
Anyway, I got lots of pics and am working on resizing them.
Will post when I am done.

I know that working is truely a "dog's life"....but you gotta do it for five days in order
to have a weekend for racing!! Funny how that works. lol Congratulations to Brad
and Carl on their wins this past weekend at Bristol. And I am proud of Matt for
moving up to the top 10 and keeping his Chase status. Have a good week my
friend and I hope it goes fast for you....take care and hugs.

This will be my last post for a bit...
leaving for Bristol first thing Wednesday morning.
Wasn't leaving till Thursday morning but...
Pat is running the truck race...woo...
and this I gotta see, just gotta!
Carpentier running the trucks, Sadler and Burton running Nationwide.
All my guys...two races each...oh yeah!
Plus all the practices too...my notebook will be full and I will be on overload.
Stats out my ears...an OCD wonderland of stats, info and numbers.
Add in the hauler parade and a weekend with a great friend, Lisa (RaceyKahne) and you have what I imagine to be the perfect trip.
I'll take lots of pics as usual!
Post you upon return.

I'm using some of that "power of positive thinking" mental attitude to help Matt
make it to the Chase!!!!! Being in 12th place is just tooooooo "ify" for me! lol I
hope he moves up a spot or two this week in Michigan. As you can tell...I am
sending out my Race Day post a little early because all of my family is in town
this weekend and we have a lot of activities planned. They will be going home
on Sunday though so I should be back home in time for the race. Good luck to
all of your drivers for a safe run and I'll get back with you after the weekend. Hugs,

Got NASCAR on all day...just what I needed.
I am ready but I think the dog is a little perturbed...
she follows me around the house all day while I clean...
and I think the fumes make her loopy, and she is a very happy dog.
Since I will be watching NASCAR instead of cleaning guess I am going to have to send a waft of Windex her way every now and then.
* A wiener dog in withdrawal is not a pretty sight. *
Have a great Friday!

I know it's silly to get so excited about rain....but it's been over five months and
through two hurricanes since we saw moisture in my neck of the woods...lol. We
got almost 2 inches and I was like a kid in a candy store. A very nice way to go
into a Hump Day this week. And with any kind of luck....we are supposed to get
more this weekend. I also heard that Michigan is expecting the same....please,
"Rain God", don't do to us what you did last year.....I have friends going there this
weekend and I want them to enjoy the race from beginning to end. lol Have a good
Wednesday my friends and I will be talking to you later in the week. Hugs.

I had the BEST time Friday night meeting up with two of my IP buddies, Theresa (ATXTMONEY) and her sister, Debbie (NASCARyuppie), for Mexican food and drinks. I think everyone in the place was staring at us...lol...and well they should have been!! We were the loudest ones in the place...lol. We talked racing and discussed all of the "soon to happen" changes that will take place next year. We were all in agreement that Watkins Glen should be a fun race, and we all hope that you enjoy the race too!!! Hugs to all of our friends.(Be sure and click on all of the arrows!)

How 'bout Trackside last night...
I have to say Pat's Sadler impression is alot better than Sadler's Pat impression.
I really enjoyed the show, should have had JB on there too...
I know he was just on a few weeks ago but it would have been ok.
Guess they didn't get the memo.
Anyway, going to be pulling for Pat to keep doing well, gotta get those sponsors...
Get the sponsors and he stays with GEM next year.
Bonne chance (good luck) Pat.

rain...I will post again (even if it takes me two or three days...lol) just to let you

The correct way to weigh yourself

I can't believe I was doing it wrong all these years. lol I went out of town the end
of last week and we ate and ate.....then I went to a pool party on Saturday and ate
some more....when I get up tomorrow morning, this is the way I am going to weigh!
lol Guys, I am so sorry for not posting much lately...I tried to get a post out last
week and it was so slow that I just couldn't finish. I'm starting early tonight in
hopes that I can get it done by tomorrow. This is so sad. I am just not going to
worry about it any more though....I guess you will get a funny from me whenever it
works. I am so sorry. I love all of you and just want to be able to talk to my friends
but sometimes I can't. I'm here though and love getting posts from you...so keep
them coming. Have a good Monday and hugs.

Not a thrilling race yesterday but I was happy with the finish.
Don't know if I was happier for Sadler in the top 5 or Pat finishing 18th.
Rather pleased with both, just wish JB was up there with Sadler.
Pat was rookie of the race for the third race in a row.
Too bad he won't get to try for 4 in a row since he is not running Pocono.
Oh well, he will be running at home in Montreal Nationwide and just may get a win.
All in all, pretty good weekend since Scott Dixon won as well...wooooo!
Hope you have a great week.

Enjoy the Indy weekend.
I am doggie-sitting for the parents and Nichole has a friend over.
Four weiner dogs and two 12 year olds.
Actually it isn't too bad, she and her friend usually play basketball all day...
or they motor around the property on the golf cart.
I bought a book on zen, hehehe.
(I just wanted something to read.)
I am trying to put some things it says to work.
Seems like I am not stressing the small stuff as much.
It may not be the book, school starts back in 2 weeks!!!
I get my routine back.
I can get so much done before she gets home and she is usually too tired from school and basketball practice to make a mess!
That may sound bad but I'm really not evil.
Well, maybe just a little.
Have a great Friday.

But, I put the hammer down last night when the child got back home.

Almost finished with everything needing to be done today.
Trying to get done so I can watch Nationwide practice tonight.
I can't believe ESPN is actually showing it.
Course I am sure all we will see and hear about is Steve Wallace.
I hope Dale Jarrett is commentating.
It will probably be the boorish guys they call in for the stand alone events.
I do believe Marty Reid suffers from rectal-cranial inversion.
If someone could find a treatment for that...They could make a killing off the ESPN crew.
Oh joy and we have them the rest of the year with ESPN on ABC.
At least DJ will be a voice of reason, I hope.
Anyway, enjoy your Friday, be safe.

No problem....you can do it Rover!! lol I have a feeling that this week and next too
are going to be long..............at least we will have a NW race this Saturday and
that's it! I guess I better line out something to do on Sunday; but for now, we
still have several days to go until then. Have a good Hump Day and the rest of the
week. Big hugs to all of you!!

Day 2 of being lazy...
10:00 - Wake up.
10:15 - Get up.
10:20 - Check e-mail and NASCAR news.
11:00 - Ooooo one of my shows is on.
11:30 - Post on IP while enjoying show in my livingroom for since daughter isn't home.
12:00 - Lunch
12:30 - Do nothing for the rest of the day.
12:45 - Who am I kidding, I have OCD, need to vaccum, dust, mop, do some laundry.
Frick!
I love OCD! (that was sarcasm)
Enjoy your Monday.
